TKS co-owner and resident food expert Rick Davis has plenty of great ideas for simple but flavorful and healthy meals that make great lunches or light dinners, and he will share his recipes – and tips for adapting them to the changing selection of seasonal flavors! – in this summertime lunch series.

Rick loves making creamy risotto with fresh produce and will show you his classic mushroom and pea variation to kick off the season. Paired with a refreshing salad made with asparagus, peppery radishes, and cooling mint – as well as luscious strawberry tart for dessert – this menu will give you all the wonderful flavors of the season in simple recipes you can duplicate at home. Whether you want to learn basic ways to cook produce or want to learn how to lighten up your seasonal menus, or you just want to enjoy a great lunch made by a great cook, you won’t want to miss this class!

This class is being held on Wednesday, June 14th from 11:45 am – 1:15 pm. This class is a demonstration style class where you will taste each recipe prepared and take recipes home with you. The price of the class is $20 plus tax per person and the menu being planned is:

  • Mushroom and Pea Risotto
  • Asparagus-Radish Salad with Mint
  • Strawberry Tart

ohio cooking class wineFire up the grill! Give your summer cookout meals an Italian twist as Fran Grande Fuller, owner of El Rancho Grande and experienced TKS instructor, returns to the Demo Kitchen to three irresistible recipes for great grilling Italian-style!

Throughout her life, Fran has loved sharing her Italian heritage and recipes in her restaurant and now at Local Roots, and she especially enjoys passing along her recipes and professional tips in cooking classes.  In this class, she will share three traditional Italian recipes for grilling dishes like scampi and chicken alla diavola.  Whether you’re ready for new grilling adventures or you’re a fan of Italian food, you won’t want to miss this class!

This class is being held on Saturday, June 17th from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. This class is a demonstration style class where you will sample each dish and take the recipes home with you. The price of the class is $30 plus tax per person and the menu/itinerary being planned is:

Over her many years of cooking professionally, Deb, owner of Quince Bakery and Café in Kidron, has has perfected basic techniques and learned how to improvise with international flavors to give simple recipes a new twist. In this class, she will share three easy sauce recipes and use them in simple recipes for combinations that are out of this world!  Whether you’re looking for new ideas for adding flair to your cooking or simple recipes to make the most of summer’s bounty, you won’t want to miss this class!

This class is being held on Tuesday, June 27th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. This class is a demonstration style class where you will taste each recipe prepared and take the recipes home with you. The price of the class is $28 plus tax per person and the menu being planned is:

  • Spicy Peanut Sauce: Served in Roast Pork Rice Bowl
  • Garlic Vinaigrette: Served in Grilled Chicken Salad
  • Soy Scallion Butter: Served in Roasted Green Beans
