Wow! So this weekend was the first time I woman’ed up and logged my weekend food in Nutrimirror. WOW! (again.) I new I was eating bad on the weekends and I’m actually surprised at the results that my page is showing me.
Friday: Being a work day Friday wasn’t all that bad, even though I was freaking out because I knew we were eating pizza for supper. I entered in my Nutrimirror Journal that I was nervous about it and I got all sorts of feedback ranging everywhere from “eat a huge salad so you only eat one piece of pizza”, to “one bad day out of the week isn’t going to kill you.” Well, I knew I wasn’t going to eat a salad and I really wanted pizza so the war within myself was brewing. I chose to go with option #3: Look up a couple chains and see which one is better for you, then go ahead and eat two pieces of that one! Kelly and I ordered Papa John’s and I did eat two pieces and was actually shocked at the numbers. They weren’t that bad at all and I still had calories to spare! Only 62 of them, but hey, I’ll take it!
Saturday: Oh lord, help me on Saturdays, please! I knew it was going to be bad. My mom, Kelly, and I were finally going out for our birthday lunch, shopping, all the good stuff that girls are supposed to do on Saturdays! We got up early, hit McD’s for breakfast, which is a weekend ritual and headed to Canton. I cut out my hash-brown weeks ago so I knew my breakfast wasn’t bad; Egg & Cheese English Muffin and water. We did some shopping then headed to one of my favorite child-hood places, Don Pablos. I think Canton is about the only place that still has them and I love it. The bad thing is that I don’t go there but maybe once or twice a year so when I go, I get what I want.. not what I “should” eat. My vice? Cheese Chili Relleno. I’ve had these at the authentic Mexican restaurants and for some reason I just LOVE the much more Americanized version so much more. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m talking about a mild poblano pepper, stuffed with cheese, then dipped in egg batter and deep-fried. Sinful, I know. I can’t even handle talking about it, actually. I’m making myself hungry all over again and I just ate lunch! So, we’ll move on to dinner! After a long day of shopping and a much needed nap, Kelly woke up hungry and we started talking dinner (I was still full from lunch hours later). Lets try something new, which is not something we do often. So, we tried Zen. I’m going to be honest and say I wasn’t expecting much because of the hear-say around town that I have personally heard but Kelly and I both like to make our own judgements about places. Kelly had tried the Red Curry at The Taste of Wooster and loved it so that is what she ordered and I thought I would try something I’ve never had before – Pad See Lew, which I think is really supposed to be Pad See-Ew but whatever. Pad See-Ew is wide rice noodles with broccoli and egg in a dark peanut-soy sauce and I added Tofu to mine. Wow – it was so good, I couldn’t stop thinking about it all night or all day Sunday. I had to keep taking niblets out of my little Chinese carry-out box. We will be revisiting Zen often. Especially being Vegan-friendly, too usually Asian-cultured take out food is packed with nutrients, vegetables, tofu/protein, etc… The only bad part is sodium, so you should watch that the rest of the day. We capped the night off with a rented red-box movie and 94% FF Kettle Corn with Nutritional Yeast sprinkled on. Are you ready???

Folks, all I can do is laugh about this now and realize I cannot continue eating like this on the weekends if I intend on reaching my goals. I will be better this weekend. I have to be. I must be…. but I’ll probably still eat some pizza!
By the way, I only lost another .4 lbs last Wednesday on my weigh-in day and I can’t imagine I’m going to lose much more this week with the weekend I had… but we’ll see!! Until then – Eat Mindfully, Eat Nutritionally, and most of all Eat Balanced!

Really glad to hear good things about Zen. I have also had a very good dish there: Laab. Although since it has chicken in it, I know you won’t be going for it but it was spicy, not burdoned with a sauce and just great over sticky rice.
Sorry for mentioning a meat product on your Vegetarian blog. But like you, I think we should mention when something good exists.
Right on-this helped me sort tihngs right out.
